What is Reiki?
What is a Reiki treatment?
Reiki is a Japanese technique designed to calm and release tensions and which helps to promote healing processes at all levels: physical, emotional, and spiritual by placing hands on the patient’s body at various points.
The idea behind the laying on of hands is: an invisible life force exists in the universe and it is also the one that keeps us alive. So, when our life force weakens, our tendency to get sick and experience a bad mood will increase. The stronger the chi flow, the stronger and happier we will be!
The word Reiki is actually made up of two words:
REI – Power of God or Supreme Power.
KI – the energy of life.
KI, more commonly called qi (or chi), is actually the life force energy present in everything: in humans, animals, trees and plants, and even in space (in the air, mountains, and sea). The qi energy, as mentioned above, flows through our body and gives it its proper activity.
Reiki energy is similar to qi energy but it comes from an infinite source with divine consciousness and therefore is a smart energy that knows how to direct itself where it needs to go. The method was developed in such a way that it can suit any person.
What is a Reiki treatment?
The Reiki is a hands-on technique and the Reiki practitioner is channeling the Reiki energy and passes it through his palms to the body of the recipient. Similar to treating others, it is done by laying the hands on the body on various spots and enabling the Reiki energy to flow to any place in the body that is painful or imbalanced. When you perform a Reiki session, it is advisable to lay the hands in each position for at least 3 minutes. There is also special music for Reiki that announces every 3 minutes when you need to change a position.

The five principles of Reiki are:
- Just for today I will not be angry– Anger is like a poison that is poisoning the person and his surroundings. Anger has also a negative influence on health, such as high blood pressure, digestive problems, headaches, et cetera…
- Just for today I will not worry–There is only one way to happiness and this is to stop worrying about things that we cannot influence (Epictetus).
- Just for today I will do my work honestly– There is a special meaning for a job done out of dedication.
- Just for today I will be grateful– Gratitude helps us to feel satisfied with the things we already have, and the more we are thankful for what we have, the more will be our ability to attract more goods thing to our life.
- Just for today I will be kind to every living thing – Showing compassion to humans, animals, and all living things shows that we cherish our surroundings and all living beings.
How to connect to the Reiki Energy
One of the characteristics of Reiki is the attunement that the student goes through when the teacher connects the student to the source of Reiki energy, opens the energy channels in his body and thus he becomes a conduit that can channel the Reiki energy.
After the attunement process, the student connects to the healing power that is within him and can take care of himself and those around him.
The more it is used, the more it intensifies, and it is a healing gift which is staying with you for a lifetime.
There are three levels in Reiki that you can learn:
Reiki 1 – Includes the ability to heal oneself and others.
Reiki 2 – Working with the Reiki symbols on a deeper mental and emotional level.
Reiki 3 – Working with the Master symbol on the spiritual level.
